whereas the man who fails to do so maintains his wants as his true needs.

The experience for me has been bitter sweet: it is exhilarating to be working on something I want to and under my own terms, yet being consistent with self-discipline and working 10 hrs+ a day including weekends is pretty challenging, not to mention tiring.

If all goes well, the iphone app should be submitted within the next two weeks.

Then I will be tried for patience, as the timely release of the app will at the mercy of Apple and their app-screening minions… Depending on who you get, I hear it could be as short as a week, to as long as a month.

Keeping my fingers crossed…

It’s a team sport.

Only one can lead.

If the guy can’t lead well, the girl is unsatisfied.

The guy can’t lead if the girl doesn’t trust him to lead her.

Fancy moves mean nothing if you don’t have the basics down.

Both have to have the courage to give as well as be able to take criticism, or else no room for growth.

Now I wear many hats in these projects, but project management and information architecture is primary what I do. It’s kind of neat actually…visualize this: I’m taking a shower when suddenly a great idea from the heavens pierces my passionate soul. I go running out of the shower with a towel barely covering my assets straight to my room and onto the internet to run a due diligence like every little good business boy should. If the market and trends smell good (no BS), I find myself drowning in so much excitement that I am forced to dump my vision into a tangible medium via an excruciatingly painful process called “wireframing”. It’s like giving birth to an idea, but out of your head that is. Essentially I take an idea and conceptualize it into a tangible thing which everyone can see, understand, and critique. Everyone has ideas, but few can make it real, perhaps this is why I love what I do so much.

Ok, so I take these drawings doused with my enthusiasm for the project, and pitch it to mentors, programmers and developers. And then viola! Everyone joins and the next day the product is developed and the day after it’s an instant success.

If only…

Well, around Christmas time we shall find out if my little experiments turn out fruitful. I hope Santa is generous with Mr. Naughty this year…

You see, I just let go of my second part-time job offer to go full time as an entrepreneur. Call me mad but I thought long and hard about it and I figured that considering my current situation in life, I would be foolish not to take the leap. And being the idealist that I am, I try to live life by the principle of never having to look back in five or ten years and regretting I never tried something when I know I could have. Though I must admit this philosophy has gotten me into some peculiar situations before in the past, for the most part, it has done me wonders…

Alas I am young, have low living expenses, have no family to take care of, and enough savings to last me a while. I also live close to the university so I have access to plenty of talent and guidance from professors. The only thing that bothers me is lack of health insurance.

Does this sound familiar to you?

A guy one day meets this cute girl who happens to be single and then that evening he has this epiphany that she just must be The One. So he decides the very next day to ask her out wearing his heart on his sleeves of course. And guess what? He gets shot down, is hurt (shown by anger), and is often clueless as to what went wrong.

…dear gentlemen, in my humble opinion :

There is no way you can reasonably get to know someone in one evening, one weekend, -or one conversation for that matter- to justify a marriage for crying out loud. Look, if you’re hooked after one whiff then that means you’re already blind with emotions and you need a second pair of eyes to help you see the light. That’s what ture friends are for.

And that’s why I’m here.

Now use your God-given head for a moment.

Look, she’s 99.9% probably NOT the one.

Yes, NOT the one.

And you need to approach it like that every single time. If you go in there with any other expectation, you’re setting yourself up.

Now it’s okay to be hopeful. In fact we should be, since that 0.1% probability is not to be discounted, because she could just possibly (though highly improbably) be the one. But if it’s mean to be, it will happen naturally, so what’s the rush boy? Why show such desperateness?

Take it slow like a man for once.

Give her time to get to know you first, and you, her. Step up to the plate as a friend. No more, no less. Don’t dive-bomb her in full-relationship mode and expect results.

So next time you find yourself obsessed about a goddess, I don’t care how nice she seems, I don’t care how hott she is, I don’t care if you think that God Himself told you that she is it, get a hold of your emotions like a man and remove her from the rosy “The One” basket of yours and place her into the appropriate “acquaintance possibly friends” basket.

Slow down turbo. It will do wonders for your chances I promise.
